Waiting

Dignity and grace
abate my tiny face
held hostage by despair

and world's welfare

Darkness looms the day
can't go out and play
filth and hunger rule

and there is no school

Sterile dreams abound
poverty all around
tiny fingers grope

and love is only hope

Wishing on a star
heal this weeping scar
concrete's on my plate

my rescue, I await
